End of Lease Cleaning Checklist Victoria

Moving out soon? Well…we’re not gonna lie. That’s not an easy process at all.
The packing, the paperwork, the stress—and then there’s the cleaning. Ugh.
If you’re renting in Victoria, you already know the drill: your bond is on the line, and your rental agent wants the place spotless. You’re going to need our end of lease cleaning checklist in Victoria to pass that mission.
We’ve rounded up everything you need to get your rental sparkling and bond-ready, minus the mini panic attacks that come with in-depth domestic cleaning.
Pre End of Lease Cleaning Tips
Before you start spraying, scrubbing, and sorting, a bit of prep will save your time (and sanity).
1. Plan Ahead
- Don’t wait until the last day. Give yourself at least a week to clean room by room.
- Book professional help (like Simone’s Cleaning Services!) early if needed—they fill up fast during end-of-month rushes.
2. Declutter First
- Remove all personal belongings before you clean. Empty rooms are much easier to tackle.
3. Go Room by Room
- Create a schedule: tackle one room per day.
- Keep supplies in a caddy so you’re not constantly chasing your broom around the house or wondering where you left that glass cleaner bottle.
4. Stock Up On Supplies
- Grab these essentials before you begin:
- Microfibre cloths
- White vinegar and baking soda
- All-purpose cleaner
- Glass cleaner
- Mop and vacuum
- Scrub brushes
- Gloves and masks
The Ultimate End of Lease Cleaning Checklist
Now, let’s get to the fun part (if cleaning is your idea of fun). Here’s the end of lease cleaning list that landlords and property managers in Victoria typically expect to be ticked off. Follow it closely and your end of tenancy cleaning experience will feature much lower stress levels.
1. Interiors

A thorough top-to-bottom scrub of the whole home’s interior is essential.
- Walls: Remove scuff marks, fingerprints, and any Blu-Tack or residue. Touch up small chips with matching paint if you can.
- Ceilings: Dust cobwebs and remove any mould. Use an extendable duster for hard-to-reach spots.
- Floors: Vacuum and mop thoroughly. Pay extra attention to corners and behind doors. Move furniture around to get the spaces underneath as well.
- Windows: Clean inside and out (where safe to do so). Don’t forget sills, tracks, and screens.
- Mirrors: Polish until streak-free. Use newspapers for a brilliant finish.
- Skirting Boards and Ledges: Dust and wipe down every edge. Don’t miss those high shelves and wardrobe tops.
- Cupboards and Drawers: Empty, wipe inside and out, including handles and hinges.
- Fly Screens: Remove and hose down or gently wipe clean. Repair any tears if possible.
- Light Fittings: Dust and wipe. Replace any blown bulbs and check for tiny bugs that could be nesting in these areas.
2. Kitchen

The kitchen is usually the trickiest area to clean, so take your time with this one. Nobody knows how it happens, but grease somehow manages to hide everywhere.
- Oven: Scrub inside and out (including the racks). Use a proper degreaser for oven cleaning and line with foil when done if you want to impress.
- Stove Top: Remove grime and food spills. Lift up the elements or plates to clean underneath.
- Rangehood & Extractor Fan: Degrease filters, clean the underside, and remove dust from vents.
- Benchtops: Wipe thoroughly, including underneath appliances and those small gaps.
- Sink & Taps: Polish until they shine. Don’t forget the drain hole and plug.
- Dishwasher: Clean the filter and run a cleaning cycle with a cup of vinegar.
- Fridge (if provided): Defrost, clean shelves, trays, and wipe door seals.
- Cupboards & Drawers: Empty and clean inside, outside, and all handles. Check for crumbs and any sticky spots that might remain.
3. Bathroom

Grime hides in the oddest places in the bathroom, so go full detective mode when you reach this area.
- Shower: Remove mould, soap scum, and clean all glass, tiles, and screens.
- Toilet: Scrub inside and outside, including base, behind, and the tank.
- Basin & Taps: Polish and ensure there are no water spots or toothpaste splatters.
- Mirrors: Streak-free is the goal—use a vinegar solution if needed.
- Soap Holders & Shelves: Wipe clean, remove residue, and check for mould.
- Ceiling Fan or Exhaust: Clear out dust, wipe covers, and ensure it’s functioning.
4. Exteriors

Don’t forget the outside of your space! A common reason for bond deductions is neglected outdoor areas.
Yard/Garden:
- Mow the lawn and edge borders
- Pull out weeds
- Rake leaves and sweep paths
- Remove any pet mess
Patios & Decks:
- Sweep thoroughly and remove cobwebs
- Spray the ground and decks
- Wipe railings and outdoor lights
Windows:
- Clean external glass where reachable
- Wipe screens and tracks when going about window cleaning
Garage/Carport:
- Sweep out
- Remove oil stains where possible
- Take out any leftover junk
- Wipe shelving or storage units
Pool/Spa (if applicable):
- Clean filters
- Scoop leaves
- Test chemical levels and top up if needed
Rubbish Bins:
- Empty them completely
- Hose them down and disinfect
- Put them back neatly in their designated spots
5. Bonus Touch-Ups
These extras can make your agent go “Wow” instead of “What on Earth?”
- Blinds: Wipe slats individually. For fabric blinds, spot-clean any marks.
- Curtains: If washable, give them a clean. If not, vacuum or steam them.
- Pest Prevention: A quick spray around doors and windows can be ultra-helpful.
- Keys & Remotes: Collect all keys, remotes, and appliance manuals and keep them together, ready for an easy handover.
